Documenting the people behind science and conservation.

Research in Action is a long-term documentary photography project celebrating the scientists, students, technicians, physicians, and conservation practitioners whose work often unfolds far from the public eye.

As a field biologist, I came to realize that the most important work in science is often the least visible. Researchers rarely have the opportunity to document themselves while immersed in fieldwork, yet these moments become invaluable for outreach, education, grant proposals, annual reports, and inspiring the next generation of scientists. More importantly, they reveal the intrepid fieldwork, perseverance, collaboration, and curiosity that drive scientific discovery and conservation. Research in Action was born from the belief that these stories—and the people behind them—deserve to be seen.

Working alongside research teams, I document authentic moments as they unfold, creating imagery that helps researchers and organizations communicate their work. My hope is that these photographs not only support the important work being done today, but also foster a deeper appreciation for the people whose dedication advances science and conservation efforts.
